Traffic Sign Surveys

A1(M) Traffic Sign Condition Surveys

DST Contracting Ltd was awarded the contract to carry out comprehensive traffic sign condition surveys along the A1(M) between Alconbury and Peterborough. Our team developed a custom survey form aligned with the Inspection and Assessment Standard CS125, ensuring all data collected met the client’s exact requirements.

The survey encompassed all illuminated and non-illuminated traffic signs located on verges and central reservations, including gantry signage. Each sign was assessed for condition, visibility, and compliance, providing our client with a complete and accurate record for future maintenance planning.

A417/A419 Traffic Sign Survey

Following the success of the A1(M) project, DST Contracting Ltd was also commissioned to complete full traffic sign surveys along a 33-mile section of the A417/A419 between Swindon and Gloucester.

This extensive survey covered thousands of individual sign installations. Over 8,000 high-resolution photographs were captured to accompany the detailed survey report, offering comprehensive visual documentation of each traffic sign assembly and its on-site visibility.

Milton Keynes LED Upgrade & CMS Conversion

Assisting the term maintenance contractor within Milton Keynes undertake the Street Lighting LED upgrade and CMS conversion.

Works included:

  • Replacing existing son lanterns with new LED with Telensa CMS nodes,

  • Replacing standard 35lux photocells with Telensa CMS nodes on existing Dali dimming enabled LED lanterns.

  • Replacing standard 35lux microcell with retrofitted Telensa conduit CMS nodes on existing Dali dimming enabled LED lanterns.

Lighting the Way: Successful Car Park Upgrade for Major UK Building Society

DST Contracting Ltd was successfully awarded the car park lighting upgrade project for one of the UK’s largest building societies, working collaboratively with their appointed electrical contractor. Our scope of works included the safe removal and disposal of existing corroded flange-mounted lighting columns and foundations, followed by the installation of new 8-metre planted lighting columns to improve reliability, illumination quality, and site safety.

The associated electrical works, including lantern installation and commissioning, were carried out by the electrical contractor, with our team providing specialist street lighting support to ensure a compliant, efficient, and high-quality installation..

DST Completes Full Street Lighting InSTALLATION at Mulberry Logistics Park, Doncaster

MLP Doncaster Phase 2

DST Contracting Ltd was successfully appointed to deliver the full supply and installation of new street lighting infrastructure for the private landlord entrance on Phase 2 of the Mulberry Logistics Park in Doncaster. This project formed a key element of the site’s ongoing development, ensuring a safe, well-lit, and compliant access route for vehicles and pedestrians.

Our team completed all works on time and within budget, meeting the client’s programme requirements and maintaining the high standards expected across the logistics park. With the success of this phase, we are pleased to note the potential for further involvement as part of the upcoming Section 278 works scheduled for early 2025.

As part of the street lighting package, DST Contracting Ltd delivered a complete end-to-end solution, including:

  • Full street lighting cable design

  • Supply and installation of new 8-metre lighting columns

  • Supply and installation of specified post-top lanterns

  • Supply and installation of a GRP street lighting feeder pillar

Comprehensive Highway Civils Delivered for A52 Traffic Signal Upgrade

A52 Boston Traffic Signal Crossing

DST Contracting Ltd was engaged to provide skilled labour for the construction of a new traffic signal-controlled crossing on the A52 in Boston, supporting improved pedestrian safety and highway network efficiency. Our team delivered a full scope of civils works to prepare the site for new traffic signal infrastructure, working to high standards of quality, compliance, and programme delivery.

The works completed included:

  • Removal of the existing kerb line to create the build-out area required for the new controlled crossing

  • Cross-carriageway trenching, installation of ducting, and reinstatement to finished road level ahead of surfacing operations

  • Removal of existing footpath surfacing and sub-base to allow for full footpath reconstruction

  • Installation of new trenching, ducting, access chambers, and a traffic signal controller base to support the permanent signal equipment

  • Installation and adjustment of new kerb lines, including the relocation and fitting of road gullies and channel kerbs

  • Laying, grading, and compaction of new footpath sub-base and base-course tarmac

  • Installation of footpath edgings and tactile paving to form the new compliant pedestrian crossing point
